26:20 Go, my people! Enter your inner rooms!

Close your doors behind you!

Hide for a little while,

until his angry judgment is over! 1 

Isaiah 40:11

40:11 Like a shepherd he tends his flock;

he gathers up the lambs with his arm;

he carries them close to his heart; 2 

he leads the ewes along.

Isaiah 50:8

Context

50:8 The one who vindicates me is close by.

Who dares to argue with me? Let us confront each other! 3

1 tn Heb “until anger passes by.”

2 tn Heb “in his bosom” (so KJV, NAB, NASB, NRSV), an expression which reflects closeness and protective care.
