Isaiah 22:22

Context
22:22 I will place the key 1  to the house of David on his shoulder. When he opens the door, no one can close it; when he closes the door, no one can open it.

Isaiah 28:12

Context

28:12 In the past he said to them, 2

“This is where security can be found.

Provide security for the one who is exhausted!

This is where rest can be found.” 3

But they refused to listen.

Isaiah 29:11

Context

29:11 To you this entire prophetic revelation 4  is like words in a sealed scroll. When they hand it to one who can read 5  and say, “Read this,” he responds, “I can’t, because it is sealed.”

1 sn This may refer to a literal insignia worn by the chief administrator. Even so, it would still symbolize the administrator’s authority to grant or exclude access to the king. See J. N. Oswalt, Isaiah (NICOT), 1:422.

2 tn Heb “who said to them.”

3 sn This message encapsulates the Lord’s invitation to his people to find security in his protection and blessing.

4 tn Heb “vision” (so NASB, NIV, NRSV).

5 tn Heb “one who knows a/the scroll.”
