Isaiah 21:6-7

Context

21:6 For this is what the sovereign master 1  has told me:

“Go, post a guard!

He must report what he sees.

21:7 When he sees chariots,

teams of horses, 2 

riders on donkeys,

riders on camels,

he must be alert,

very alert.”

Isaiah 52:10

Context

52:10 The Lord reveals 3  his royal power 4 

in the sight of all the nations;

the entire 5  earth sees

our God deliver. 6 

1 tn The Hebrew term translated “sovereign master” here and in vv. 8, 16 is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

2 tn Or “a pair of horsemen.”

3 tn Heb “lays bare”; NLT “will demonstrate.”

4 tn Heb “his holy arm.” This is a metonymy for his power.

5 tn Heb “the remote regions,” which here stand for the extremities and everything in between.

6 tn Heb “the deliverance of our God.” “God” is a subjective genitive here.
