  Suppliant, lo! Thy children bend, Father, for Thy blessing now; Thou canst teach us, guide, defend; We are weak, almighty Thou! With the peace Thy Word imparts Be the taught and teacher blessed; In our lives and in our hearts, Father, be Thy laws impressed. Pour into each longing mind Light and knowledge from above, Charity for all mankind, Trusting faith, enduring love.

  Great Former of this various frame, Our souls adore Thine awful Name; And bow and tremble while they praise The Ancient of eternal days. Thou, Lord, with unsurprised survey, Saw’st nature rising yesterday; And, as tomorrow, shall Thine eye See earth and stars in ruin lie. Beyond an angel’s vision bright, Thou dwell’st in self existent light; Which shines, with undiminished ray, While suns and worlds in smoke decay. Our days a transient period run, And change with every circling sun; And, in the firmest state we boast, A moth can crush us into dust. But let the creatures fall around; Let death consign us to the ground; Let the last general flame arise, And melt the arches of the skies: Calm as the summer’s ocean, we Can all the wreck of nature see, While grace secures us an abode, Unshaken as the throne of God.

  Redeemer of Israel, our only Delight, On Whom for a blessing we call, Our Shadow by day, and our Pillar by night, Our King, our Deliverer, our All! We know He is coming, to gather His sheep And lead them to Zion in love; For why in the valley of death should they weep Or in the lone wilderness rove? How long we have wandered as strangers in sin, And cried in the desert for Thee! Our foes have rejoiced when our sorrows they’ve seen, But Israel will shortly be free. As children of Zion, good tidings for us. The tokens already appear. Fear not, and be just, for the kingdom is ours. The hour of redemption is near.

Down the centuries it came, Glory, glory to His Name, Free salvation to proclaim, Sing aloud with gladness: And this melody so hoary, Is humanity’s rich glory, And eternity’s sweet story, Sing aloud with gladness. Haste, all lands, for Christ make room, Earth shall yield her sin and gloom, All her desert places bloom, Sing aloud with gladness: And this wonderful salvation Shall be sung by ev’ry nation, While He rules the vast creation, Sing aloud with gladness.
