Isaiah 2:12

Context

2:12 Indeed, the Lord who commands armies has planned a day of judgment, 1 

for 2  all the high and mighty,

for all who are proud – they will be humiliated;

Isaiah 12:4

Context

12:4 At that time 3  you will say:

“Praise the Lord!

Ask him for help! 4 

Publicize his mighty acts among the nations!

Make it known that he is unique! 5 

Isaiah 30:30

Context

30:30 The Lord will give a mighty shout 6 

and intervene in power, 7 

with furious anger and flaming, destructive fire, 8 

with a driving rainstorm and hailstones.

1 tn Heb “indeed [or “for”] the Lord who commands armies [traditionally, the Lord of hosts] has a day.”

2 tn Or “against” (NAB, NASB, NRSV).

3 tn Or “in that day” (KJV).

4 tn Heb “call in his name,” i.e., “invoke his name.”

5 tn Heb “bring to remembrance that his name is exalted.” The Lord’s “name” stands here for his character and reputation.

6 tn Heb “the Lord will cause the splendor of his voice to be heard.”

7 tn Heb “and reveal the lowering of his arm.”

8 tn Heb “and a flame of consuming fire.”
