• [Isa 34:4] Behold, What Light Rolls Back The Sky?

  Behold, what light rolls back the sky? What fear and trepidation! The trumpets blast a vict’ry cry For ransomed congregations. And leading them, their sovereign head, Is Christ the judge of quick and dead, Demanding exultation. No doubt or atheistic thought Shall then deny God’s power. Those who against his gospel fought Shall wail and gnash and cower. For those who claim they could not know, Creation’s witness here below Condemns them in that hour. The spirit-called and blood-redeemed Shall have full vindication, Enjoying God with bliss undreamed In holy consummation. And those that sleep in Christ, who rise With flesh made new before their eyes, Receive glorification. Then let our voice erupt in song In prayer for His returning. Be pleased, Lord, not to tarry long To end creation’s yearning. Acquitted at your judgement seat, We’ll cast our crowns before your feet— Not ours but Christ’s the earning.

Isaiah 40:6

• [Isa 40:6] Here, Lord, We Offer Thee

  Here, Lord, we offer Thee all that is fairest, Bloom from the garden, and flowers from the field; Gifts for the stricken ones, knowing Thou carest More for the love than the wealth that we yield. Send, Lord, by these to the sick and the dying, Speak to their hearts with a message of peace; Comfort the sad, who in weakness are lying, Grant the departing a gentle release. Raise, Lord, to health those again who have sickened, Fair be their lives as the roses in bloom; Give of Thy grace to the souls Thou hast quickened, Gladness for sorrow, and brightness for gloom. We, Lord, like flowers, must bloom and must wither; We, like these blooms, must fade and must die; Gather us, Lord, to Thy bosom forever, Grant us a place in Thy house in the sky.

• [Isa 40:6] Voice Says Cry!, The

  The voice says, “Cry!” What shall we cry? “All flesh is grass, and like the flower Its glories droop, its pleasures die, Its joys but last one fleeting hour.” The voice says, “Cry!” O piteous cry! And are there none to help and save? Have all that live beneath the sky No other prospect but a grave? The voice says, “Cry!” Yet glorious cry! The Word of God can never fall, And tells how Jesus, throned on high, Holds out eternal life to all. The voice says, “Cry!” Who needs the cry? O brother men! who needs it not? By countless millions, far and nigh, ’Tis still unheard, despised, forgot. The voice says, “Cry!” What stops the cry? Our greed of wealth, our love of ease, Our lack of earnest will to try Mankind to save, and God to please. The voice says, “Cry!” O let us cry! Though standing on death’s awful brink, Men feast, they jest, they sell, they buy, And cannot see, and will not think. The voice says, “Cry!” Lord, we would cry But of Thy goodness teach us how; For fast the hours of mercy fly, And, if we cry, it must be now!

Isaiah 53:6

• [Isa 53:6] I Was A Wandering Sheep

  I was a wandering sheep, I did not love the fold; I did not love my Shepherd’s voice, I would not be controlled. I was a wayward child, I did not love my home; I did not love my Father’s voice, I loved afar to roam. The Shepherd sought His sheep, The Father sought His child; They followed me o’er vale and hill, O’er deserts waste and wild; They found me nigh to death, Famished and faint and lone; They bound me with the bands of love, They saved the wand’ring one. They spoke in tender love, They raised my drooping head, They gently closed my bleeding wounds, My fainting soul they fed; They washed my filth away, They made me clean and fair; They brought me to my home in peace, The long sought wanderer. Jesus my Shepherd is: ’Twas He that loved my soul; ’Twas He that washed me in His blood, ’Twas He that made me whole. ’Twas He that sought the lost, That found the wand’ring sheep, ’Twas He that brought me to the fold, ’Tis He that still doth keep. No more a wandering sheep, I love to be controlled; I love my tender Shepherd’s voice, I love the peaceful fold. No more a wayward child, I seek no more to roam; I love my heavenly Father’s voice, I love, I love His home!

• [Isa 53:6] Like Sheep We Went Astray

  Like sheep we went astray, And broke the fold of God, Each wandering in a different way, But all the downward road. How dreadful was the hour When God our wanderings laid And did at once His vengeance pour, Upon the Shepherd’s head! How glorious was the grace When Christ sustained the stroke! His life and blood the Shepherd pays A ransom for the flock. His honor and His breath Were taken both away, Joined with the wicked in His death, And made as vile as they. But God shall raise His head O’er all the sons of men, And make Him see a numerous seed, To recompense His pain. “I’ll give Him,” saith the Lord, “A portion with the strong; He shall possess a large reward; And hold His honors long.”

  Our sins, our sorrows, Lord, were laid on Thee; Thy stripes have healed, Thy bonds have set us free; And now Thy toil is o’er, Thy grief and pain Have passed away; the veil is rent in twain. Now hast Thou laid Thee down in perfect peace Where all the wicked from their troubling cease, And tranquil Sabbath in the grave to keep; Thy Father giveth His Belovèd sleep. Yet in Thy glory, on the throne above, Thou wast abiding ever, Love of Love, Eternal, filling all created things With Thine own presence, Jesus, King of kings! E’en now our place is with Thee on the throne, For Thou abidest ever with Thine own; Yet in the tomb with Thee, we watch for day; O let Thine angel roll the stone away!
