  From all the dark places of earth’s heathen races, O see how the thick shadows fly! The voice of salvation awakes every nation, Come over and help us, they cry. Refrain The kingdom is coming, O tell ye the story, God’s banner exalted shall be! The earth shall be full of His knowledge and glory, As waters that cover the sea. The sunlight is glancing o’er armies advancing To conquer the kingdoms of sin; Our Lord shall possess them, His presence shall bless them, His beauty shall enter them in. Refrain With shouting and singing, and jubilant ringing, Their arms of rebellion cast down; At last every nation the Lord of salvation Their King and Redeemer shall crown! Refrain

  On, like the true and brave; In Him, the strong to save, Our boast shall be; The world for Christ we sing, Our high exalted King, Whose praise from all shall ring O’er land and sea. Firm as the hills above Nor time or change can move, His Word shall be; Where sin and death abound, His truth shall yet resound, And all shall hear the sound O’er land and sea. Soon shall He come to reign, And from the tyrant’s chain The world set free; On realms of deepest night, The beams of Gospel light Shall rise in splendor bright O’er land and sea.

  Roll on, though mighty ocean! And, as thy billows flow, Bear messengers of mercy To every land below. Arise, ye gales, and waft them Safe to the destined shore; That man may sit in darkness, And death’s black shade no more.   Brightly gleams our banner, pointing to the sky, Waving on Christ’s soldiers to their home on high. Marching through the desert, gladly thus we pray, Still with hearts united, singing on our way. Pattern of our childhood, once Thyself a child, Make our childhood holy, pure and meek and mild. In the hour of danger whither can we flee, Save to Thee, dear Savior, only unto Thee? Fling out the banner! heathen lands Shall see from far the glorious sight, And nations crowding to be born Baptize their spirits in its light. Fling out the banner! angels bend In anxious silence o’er the sight, And vainly seek to comprehend The wonder of the love divine. • [Isa 11:10] Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming

  Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming from tender stem hath sprung! Of Jesse’s lineage coming, as men of old have sung. It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter, When half spent was the night. Isaiah ’twas foretold it, the Rose I have in mind; With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind. To show God’s love aright, she bore to men a Savior, When half spent was the night. The shepherds heard the story proclaimed by angels bright, How Christ, the Lord of glory was born on earth this night. To Bethlehem they sped and in the manger found Him, As angel heralds said. This Flower, whose fragrance tender with sweetness fills the air, Dispels with glorious splendor the darkness everywhere; True Man, yet very God, from sin and death He saves us, And lightens every load. O Savior, Child of Mary, who felt our human woe, O Savior, King of glory, who dost our weakness know; Bring us at length we pray, to the bright courts of Heaven, And to the endless day!
