  Jesus, holy, undefiled, Listen to a little child; Thou hast sent the glorious light, Chasing far the silent night. Thou hast sent the sun to shine, O’er this glorious world of Thine; Warmth to give and pleasant glow, On each tender flow’r below. Now the little birds arise, Chirping gaily in the skies; Thee their tiny voices praise, In the early songs they raise. Thou, by Whom the birds are fed, Give to me my daily bread; And Thy holy Spirit give, Without Whom I cannot live.

Hebrews 2:10

• [Heb 2:10] O Son Of God, Our Captain Of Salvation

  O Son of God, our Captain of salvation, Thyself by suffering schooled to human grief, We bless Thee for Thy sons of consolation, Who follow in the steps of Thee their Chief. Those whom Thy Spirit’s dread vocation severs To lead the vanguard of Thy conquering host; Whose toilsome years are spent in brave endeavors To bear Thy saving Name from coast to coast. Those whose bright faith makes feeble hearts grow stronger, And sends fresh warriors to the great campaign, Bids the lone convert feel estranged no longer, And wins the sundered to be one again. And all true helpers, patient, kind, and skillful, Who shed Thy light across our darkened earth, Counsel the doubting, and restrain the willful, Soothe the sick bed, and share the children’s mirth. Such was Thy Levite, strong in self oblation, To cast his all at Thine Apostles’ feet; He whose new name, through every Christian nation, From age to age our thankful strains repeat. Thus, Lord, Thy blessèd saints in memory keeping, Still be Thy Church’s watchword, “Comfort ye,” Till in our Father’s house shall end all weeping, And every want be satisfied in Thee.

  There’s a battle raging over the land and sea, True to Christ our Captain we will be; Satan’s hosts are mighty, fighting for ruin and sin, But in this great conflict right is sure to win. Refrain Over the top for Jesus bravely we will go: Over the top for Jesus, routing ev’ry foe, Never delaying when we hear the bugle blow, We’ll fight for right with all our might, As over the top we go. There’s a cry of sorrow rising from hearts oppressed, There’s a world in sadness and unrest; But the hope that thrills us, looking out into the night, Christ, the Lord of battles, leads me in the fight.
