1 tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “So” to indicate a summary or conclusion to the argument of the preceding paragraph.

2 tn Grk “and in this again.”

3 tn Grk “the first” (referring to the covenant described in Heb 8:7, 13). In the translation the referent (covenant) has been specified for clarity.

4 tn Grk “the first tent.”

5 tn Grk “there is a necessity for the death of the one who made it to be proven.”

6 tn This probably refers to the righteous rule of David and others. But it could be more general and mean “did what was righteous.”

7 tn Grk “obtained promises,” referring to the things God promised, not to the pledges themselves.

sn Gained what was promised. They saw some of God’s promises fulfilled, even though the central promise remained unfulfilled until Christ came (cf. vv. 39-40).
