Hebrews 2:7

• [Heb 2:7] O Jesus, Crowned With All Renown

  O Jesus, crowned with all renown, Since Thou the earth hast trod, Thou reignest, and by Thee come down Henceforth the gifts of God. Thine is the health and Thine the wealth That in our halls abound, And Thine the beauty and the joy With which the years are crowned. Lord, in their change, let frost and heat, And winds and dews be giv’n; All fostering power, all influence sweet, Breathe from the bounteous Heav’n. Attemper fair with gentle air The sunshine and the rain, That kindly earth with timely birth May yield her fruits again. That we may feed the poor aright, And gathering round Thy throne, Here, in the holy angels’ sight, Repay Thee of Thine own: That we may praise Thee all our days, And with the Father’s Name, And with the Holy Spirit’s gifts, The Savior’s love proclaim.

Hebrews 2:9

• [Heb 2:9] The Head That Once Was Crowned

  The head that once was crowned with thorns Is crowned with glory now; A royal diadem adorns The mighty victor’s brow. The highest place that Heav’n affords Belongs to Him by right; The King of kings and Lord of lords, And Heaven’s eternal Light. The joy of all who dwell above, The joy of all below, To whom He manifests His love, And grants His Name to know. To them the cross with all its shame, With all its grace, is given; Their name an everlasting name, Their joy the joy of Heaven. They suffer with their Lord below; They reign with Him above; Their profit and their joy to know The mystery of His love. The cross He bore is life and health, Though shame and death to Him, His people’s hope, His people’s wealth, Their everlasting theme.

Hebrews 2:16

• [Heb 2:16] Now Let Us Join With Hearts And Tongues

  Now let us join with hearts and tongues, And emulate the angels’ songs; Yea, sinners may address their King In songs that angels cannot sing. They praise the Lamb Who once was slain, But we can add a higher strain; Not only say, “He suffered thus,” But that He suffered all for us. When angels by transgression fell, Justice consigned them all to hell; But mercy formed a wondrous plan, To save and honor fallen man. Jesus, who passed the angels by, Assumed our flesh to bleed and die; And still He makes it His abode, As man, He fills the throne of God. Our next of kin, our Brother now, Is He to Whom the angels bow; They join with us to praise His Name, But we the nearest interest claim. But ah! how faint our praises rise! Sure, ’tis the wonder of the skies; That we, who share His richest love, So cold and unconcerned should prove. O glorious hour, it comes with speed When we from sin and darkness freed, Shall see the God Who died for man, And praise Him more than angels can.
