Hebrews 12:1-13
-
[Heb 12:1] Looking This Way
Over the river, faces I see,
Fair as the morning, looking for me;
Free from their sorrow, grief and despair,
Waiting and watching patiently there.Refrain
Looking this way, yes, looking this way,
Loved ones are waiting, looking this way;
Fair as the morning, bright as the day,
Dear ones in glory, looking this way.Father and mother, safe in that vale,
Watch for the boatman, wait for the sail,
Bearing their loved ones over the tide,
Into the harbor, near to their side.Refrain
Brother and sister, gone to that clime,
Wait for the others, coming sometime,
Safe with the angels, whiter than snow,
Watching for dear ones, waiting below.Refrain
Sweet little darling, light of the home,
Looking for someone, beckoning, “Come”;
Bright as a sunbeam, pure as the dew,
Anxiously looking, mother, for you.Refrain

[Heb 12:1] O Father, By Whose Servants
Our Father, by Whose servants
Our house was built of old,
Whose hand hath crowned her children
With blessing manifold,
For Thine unfailing mercies
Far-strewn along our way,
With all who passed before us,
We praise Thy Name today.The changeful years unresting
Their silent course have sped,
New comrades ever bringing
In comrades’ steps to tread;
And some are long forgotten,
Long spent their hopes and fears;
Safe rest they in Thy keeping,
Who changest not with years.They reap not where they labored;
We reap what they have sown;
Our harvest may be garnered
By ages yet unknown.
The days of old have dowered us
With gifts beyond all praise;
Our Father, make us faithful
To serve the coming days.Before us and beside us,
Still holden in Thine hand
A cloud unseen of witness,
Our elder comrades stand:
One family unbroken,
We join, with one acclaim,
One heart, one voice uplifting
To glorify Thy Name.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Author Of Faith, Eternal Word
Author of faith, eternal Word,
Whose Spirit breathes the active flame;
Faith like its finisher and Lord,
Today as yesterday the same.To Thee our humble hearts aspire,
And ask the gift unspeakable;
Increase in us the kindled fire,
In us the work of faith fulfill.By faith we know Thee strong to save;
Save us, a present Savior Thou!
Whate’er we hope, by faith we have
Future and past subsisting now.To him that in Thy Name believes
Eternal life with Thee is given;
Into Himself He all receives,
Pardon and holiness, and Heaven.The things unknown to feeble sense,
Unseen by reason’s glimmering ray,
With strong commanding evidence
Their heavenly origin display.Faith lends its realizing light,
The clouds disperse, the shadows fly;
Th’invisible appears in sight,
And God is seen by mortal eye.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Christ, In Highest Heaven Enthronèd
Christ, in highest Heav’n enthronèd,
Equal of the Father’s might,
By pure spirits, trembling, ownèd,
God of God, and Light of Light,
Thee ’mid angel hosts we sing,
Thee their Maker and their King.All who circling round adore Thee,
All who bow before Thy throne,
Burn with flaming zeal before Thee,
Thy behests to carry down;
To and fro, ’twixt earth and Heav’n,
Speed they each on errands given.First of all those legions glorious,
Michael waves his sword of flame,
Who of old in war victorious
Did the Dragon’s fierceness tame;
Who with might invincible
Thrust the rebel down to hell.Strong to aid the sick and dying,
Called from Heav’n they swiftly fly,
Grace divine and strength supplying
In their mortal agony:
Souls released from bondage here
Safe to Paradise they bear.To the Father praise be given
By the unfallen angel host,
Who in His great war have striven
With the legions of the lost;
Equal praise in highest Heav’n
To the Son and Holy Ghost.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Far From My Thoughts
Far from my thoughts, vain world, begone,
Let my religious hours alone:
Fain would my eyes my Savior see;
I wait a visit, Lord, from Thee.My heart grows warm with holy fire,
And kindles with a pure desire:
Come, my dear Jesus, from above,
And feed my soul with heav’nly love.The trees of life immortal stand
In fragrant rows at Thy right hand;
And in sweet murmurs, by their side,
Rivers of bliss perpetual glide.Haste, then, but with a smiling face,
And spread the table of Thy grace;
Bring down a taste of fruit divine,
And cheer my heart with sacred wine.Bless’d Jesus, what delicious fare!
How sweet Thy entertainments are!
Never did angels taste above
Redeeming grace, and dying love.Hail, great Immanuel, all divine!
In Thee Thy Father’s glories shine;
Thou brightest, sweetest, fairest One,
That eyes have seen or angels known.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] God Is Gone Up On High
God is gone up on high,
With a triumphant noise;
The clarions of the sky
Proclaim the angelic joys!
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.God in the flesh below,
For us He reigns above:
Let all the nations know
Our Jesu’s conquering love!
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.All power to our great Lord
Is by the Father given;
By angel hosts adored,
He reigns supreme in Heav’n:
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.High on His holy seat
He bears the righteous sway;
His foes beneath His feet
Shall sink and die away:
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.His foes and ours are one,
Satan, the world, and sin;
But He shall tread them down.
And bring His kingdom in:
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.Till all the earth, renewed
In righteousness divine,
With all the hosts of God
In one great chorus join,
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Lamb Of God, We Fall Before Thee
Lamb of God, we fall before Thee,
Humbly trusting in Thy cross.
That alone be all our glory;
All things else are only dross.Thee we own a perfect Savior,
Only source of all that’s good.
Every grace and every favor
Comes to us through Jesus’ blood.Jesus gives us true repentance
By His Spirit sent from Heav’n;
Whispers this transporting sentence,
“Son, thy sins are all forgiv’n.”Faith He grants us to believe it,
Grateful hearts His love to prize;
Want we wisdom? He must give it,
Hearing ears and seeing eyes.Jesus gives us pure affections,
Wills to do what He requires,
Makes us follow His directions,
And what He commands, inspires.All our prayers and all our praises,
Rightly offered in His Name—
He that dictates them is Jesus;
He that answers is the same.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] O Christ, The Lord Of Heaven, To Thee
O Christ, the Lord of Heaven, to Thee
Clothed with all majesty divine,
Eternal power and glory be:
Eternal praise and right is Thine.Reign, Prince of Life, who once Thy brow
Didst yield to wear the wounding thorn;
Reign throned beside the Father now,
Adored the Son of God firstborn.From angel hosts, that round Thee stand,
With forms more pure than spotless snow,
From the bright burning seraph band,
Let praise in loftiest numbers flow.To Thee, the Lamb, our mortal songs,
Born of deep fervent love, shall rise;
All honor to Thy Name belongs:
Our lips would sound it to the skies.Jesus! all earth shall speak the word;
Jesus! all Heaven resound it still:
Immanuel, Savior, Conqueror, Lord,
Thy praise the universe shall fill.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!Refrain
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!Refrain
His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!Refrain

[Heb 12:5] Afflictions Do Not Come Alone
Afflictions do not come alone,
A voice attends the rod;
By both He to His saints is known,
A Father and a God!Let not My children slight the stroke
I for chastisement send;
Nor faint beneath My kind rebuke,
For still I am their Friend.The wicked I perhaps may leave
Awhile, and not reprove;
But all the children I receive
I scourge, because I love.If therefore you were left without
This needful discipline;
You might, with cause, admit a doubt,
If you, indeed, were Mine.Shall earthly parents then expect
Their children to submit?
And wilt not you, when I correct,
Be humbled at My feet?To please themselves they oft chastise,
And put their sons to pain;
But you are precious in My eyes,
And shall not smart in vain.I see your hearts, at present, filled
With grief, and deep distress;
But soon these bitter seeds shall yield
The fruits of righteousness.Break through the clouds, dear Lord, and shine!
Let us perceive Thee nigh!
And to each mourning child of Thine
These gracious words apply.Play source: Cyberhymnal
