Hebrews 11:21-22

11:21 By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph and worshiped as he leaned on his staff. 1  11:22 By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, 2  mentioned the exodus of the sons of Israel 3  and gave instructions about his burial. 4

12:5 And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons?

My son, do not scorn 5  the Lord’s discipline

or give up when he corrects 6  you.

12:7 Endure your suffering 7  as discipline; 8  God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?

1 tn Grk “worshiped on the top of his staff,” a quotation from Gen 47:31 (LXX).

3 sn Joseph’s prophecy about the exodus of the sons of Israel is found in Gen 50:24.
