Hebrews 10:1--12:29
-
[Heb 10:4] Not All The Blood Of Beasts
Not all the blood of beasts
On Jewish altars slain
Could give the guilty conscience peace
Or wash away the stain.But Christ, the heav’nly Lamb,
Takes all our sins away;
A sacrifice of nobler name
And richer blood than they.My faith would lay her hand
On that dear head of Thine,
While, like a penitent, I stand,
And there confess my sin.My soul looks back to see
The burdens Thou didst bear
When hanging on the cursèd tree,
And hopes her guilt was there.Believing, we rejoice
To see the curse remove;
We bless the Lamb with cheerful voice,
And sing His bleeding love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:4] O Thou Whose Offering On The Tree
O Thou whose offering on the tree
The legal offerings all foreshowed,
Borrowed their whole effect from Thee,
And drew their virtue from Thy blood.The blood of goats and bullocks slain,
Could never for one sin atone;
To purge the guilty offerer’s stain,
Thine was the work, and Thine alone.Vain in themselves their duties were,
Their services could never please,
Till joined with Thine, and made to share
The merits of Thy righteousness.Forward they cast a faithful look
On Thy approaching sacrifice;
And thence their pleasing savor took,
And rose accepted in the skies.These feeble types and shadows old,
Are all in Thee, the Truth, fulfilled;
We in Thy sacrifice behold
The substance of those rites revealed.Thy meritorious sufferings past,
We see by faith to us brought back;
And, on Thy grand oblation cast,
Its saving benefits partake.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:10] Once, Only Once
Once, only once, and once for all,
His precious life He gave;
Before the cross in faith we fall,
And own it strong to save.“One off’ring, single and complete,”
With lips and hearts we say;
But what He never can repeat
He shows forth day by day.For as the priest of Aaron’s line
Within the holiest stood,
And sprinkled all the mercy shrine
With sacrificial blood;So He, who once atonement wrought,
Our Priest of endless power,
Presents Himself for those He bought
In that dark noontide hour.His manhood pleads where now it lives
On heaven’s eternal throne,
And where in mystic rite He gives
Its presence to His own.And so we show Thy death, O Lord,
Till Thou again appear,
And feel, when we approach Thy board,
We have an altar here.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:10] True Messiah Now Appears, The
The true Messiah now appears,
The types are all withdrawn;
So fly the shadows and the stars
Before the rising dawn.No smoking sweets, nor bleeding lambs,
Nor kid nor bullock slain;
Incense and spice of costly names
Would all be burnt in vain.Aaron must lay his robes away,
His miter and his vest,
When God Himself comes down to be
The offering and the priest.He took our mortal flesh to show
The wonders of His love;
For us He paid His life below,
And prays for us above.“Father,” He cries, “forgive their sins,
For I Myself have died”;
And then He shows His opened veins
And pleads His wounded side.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:12] Come, All Harmonious Tongues
Come, all harmonious tongues,
Your noblest music bring;
’Tis Christ the everlasting God,
And Christ the man, we sing.
Tell how He took our flesh,
To take away our guilt;
Sing the dear drops of sacred blood
That hellish monsters spilt.Alas! the cruel spear
Went deep into His side,
And the rich flood of purple gore
Their murderous weapons dyed.
The waves of swelling grief
Did o’er His bosom roll,
And mountains of almighty wrath
Lay heavy on His soul.Down to the shades of death
He bowed His smitten head;
Yet He arose to live and reign
When death itself is dead.
No more the bloody spear,
The cross and nails no more;
For hell itself shakes at His Name,
And all the heav’ns adore.There the Redeemer sits
High on the Father’s throne;
The Father lays His vengeance by,
And smiles upon His Son.
There His full glories shine
With uncreated rays,
And bless His saints and angels’ eyes
To everlasting days.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:14] When O’er My Sins I Sorrow
When o’er my sins I sorrow,
Lord, I will look to Thee
And hence my comfort borrow
That Thou wast slain for me;
Yea, Lord, Thy precious blood was spilt
For me, O most unworthy,
To take away my guilt.Oh, what a marvelous offering!
Behold, the Master spares
His servants, and their suffering
And grief for them He bears.
God stoopeth from His throne on high;
For me, His guilty creature,
He deigns as man to die.My manifold transgression
Henceforth can harm me none
Since Jesus’ bloody Passion
For me God’s grace hath won.
His precious blood my debts hath paid;
Of hell and all its torments
I am no more afraid.Therefore I will forever
Give glory unto Thee,
O Jesus, loving Savior,
For what Thou didst for me.
I’ll spend my breath in songs of thanks
For Thy sad cry, Thy sufferings,
Thy wrongs, Thy guiltless death.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:21] Blessed Assurance
Blessèd assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.Refrain
Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.Refrain

[Heb 10:22] I Am Thine, O Lord
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.Refrain
Draw me nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.Refrain
O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!Refrain
There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.Refrain

[Heb 10:22] Since We Have Confidence
Since we have confidence to come to God,
Since Jesus made a way by His own blood,
Since He the veil did tear,
A living way made clear,
Our great High Priest is e’er,
Let us draw near.Let us draw near to God, let us draw near;
With all sincerity, let us draw near.
Fully assured in faith,
With hearts cleansed by His grace,
All guilt and sin erased,
Let us draw near.Let us hold to our hope, let us e’er hope,
In God’s salvation great, let us e’er hope.
God’s promises are true;
He’s always faithful, too;
What He has said, He’ll do;
Let us e’er hope.Let us spur others on, let us spur on;
Let us consider how we may spur on.
Let us urge others to
Show love in all they do,
And good deeds e’er pursue;
Let us spur on.Let us keep meeting e’er, let us still meet;
Till Christ returns one day, let us still meet.
Let us encourage e’er,
Christ’s soon return declare,
Till we His glory share,
Let us still meet.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:23] I Was Made A Christian
I was made a Christian
When my name was giv’n,
One of God’s dear children,
And an heir of Heaven.
In the name of Christian
I will glory now,
Evermore remember
My baptismal vow.I must, like a Christian
Shun all evil ways,
Keep the faith of Jesus,
Serve Him all my days.
Called to be a Christian
I will praise the Lord,
Seek for His assistance
So to keep my word.All a Christian’s blessings
I will claim for mine;
Holy work and worship,
Fellowship divine.
Father, Son, and Spirit,
Give me grace, that I,
Still may live a Christian,
And a Christian die.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:23] God’s Promise
He who brought His ancient people,
With a strong and mighty hand,
Out of all their cruel bondage,
Into Canaan’s promised land.Refrain
He has said, and we believe it,
’Tis a promise made of old,
From the trusting and the loving
No good thing will He withhold.He who led them through the desert,
By the cloud that went before,
He whose goodness never failed them,
Though they grieved Him o’er and o’er.Refrain
God is faithful to His promise,
He is mindful of His own;
On our journey to His kingdom
We shall never walk alone.Refrain
We shall have His kind protection
And His love as in the past;
Though our days be few or many,
He will guide us to the last.Refrain

[Heb 10:23] Standing On The Promises
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.Refrain
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.Refrain
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.Refrain
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.Refrain
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.Refrain

[Heb 10:25] Lord, We See The Day Approaching
Lord, we see the day approaching,
When Thou wilt again appear;
Sinners still Thy garments touching,
Stay Thee in Thy coming here.Hid in Heaven all our treasure,
Patience now becomes Thy saints;
Lord, we wait Thy gracious pleasure,
Faith should silence all complaints.Through the wilderness we wander,
Troubled oft, but not distressed;
Seek we glory? It is yonder,
Suffering pledges future rest.Coming judgments round us darken,
Human hearts may fail or fear;
But to Thee alone we hearken,
“Your redemption draweth near.”Make each waiting child obedient,
Stay our anxious hearts on this:
If Thy going were “expedient,”
Surely Thy return is bliss.Our own Lord is coming hither,
Light in darkness, joy in grief;
Hope deferred would quickly wither
Hearts that had not this relief.All we need is deep affection,
Singleness of eye and heart;
Strength to own Thee in rejection:
Grace sufficient, Lord, impart!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 10:37] And Is It So? A Little While
And is it so? “A little while,”
And then the life undying,
The light of God’s unclouded smile,
The singing for the sighing?
“A little while!” O glorious word,
Sweet solace of our sorrow;
And then “forever with the Lord,”
The everlasting morrow.Then be it ours to journey on
In paths that He decrees us,
Where His own feet before have gone,
Our strength, our hope, our Jesus;
In lowly fellowship with Him
The cross appointed bearing;
For O a crown no grief can dim
One day we shall be wearing.O ’twill be passing sweet to gaze
On Him in all His glory;
And lost in love and glad amaze
To shout redemption’s story;
Till angels bend to catch the strain
Our human lips are swelling,
And “worthy is the Lamb once slain,”
Resounds through Heaven’s high dwelling.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:1] Faith Of Our Fathers
Faith of our fathers, living still,
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whenever we hear that glorious Word!Refrain
Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.Faith of our fathers, we will strive
To win all nations unto Thee;
And through the truth that comes from God,
We all shall then be truly free.Refrain
Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife;
And preach Thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.Refrain
Faith of our fathers, Mary’s prayers
Shall win our country back to Thee;
And through the truth that comes from God,
England shall then indeed be free.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:1] Faith Of Our Mothers
Faith of our mothers, living still
In cradle song and bedtime prayer;
In nursery lore and fireside love,
Thy presence still pervades the air:
Faith of our mothers, living faith!
We will be true to thee to death.Faith of our mothers, loving faith,
Fount of our childhood’s trust and grace,
Oh, may thy consecration prove
Source of a finer, nobler race:
Faith of our mothers, loving faith,
We will be true to thee till death.Faith of our mothers, guiding faith,
For youthful longing, youthful doubt,
How blurred our vision, blind our way,
Thy providential care without:
Faith of our mothers, guiding faith,
We will be true to thee till death.Faith of our mothers, Christian faith,
Is truth beyond our stumbling creeds,
Still serve the home and save the Church,
And breathe thy spirit through our deeds:
Faith of our mothers, Christian faith!
We will be true to thee till death.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

[Heb 11:2] Marching With The Heroes
Marching with the heroes,
Comrades of the strong,
Lift we hearts and voices
As we march along;
O the joyful music
All in chorus raise!
Theirs the song of triumph,
Ours the song of praise.Refrain
Marching with the heroes,
Comrades of the strong,
Lift we hearts and voices
As we march along.Glory to the heroes,
Who in days of old,
Trod the path of duty,
Faithful, wise and bold;
For the right unflinching,
Strong the weak to save,
Warriors all and freemen,
Fighting for the slave.Refrain
So we sing the story
Of the brave and true,
Till among the heroes
We are heroes, too;
Loyal to our Captain
Like the men of yore,
Marching with the heroes,
Onward evermore.Refrain

[Heb 11:6] Come Believing!
Once again the Gospel message
From the Savior you have heard;
Will you heed the invitation?
Will you turn and seek the Lord?Refrain
Come believing! come believing!
Come to Jesus! look and live!
Come believing! come believing!
Come to Jesus! look and live!Many summers you have wasted,
Ripened harvests you have seen;
Winter snows by spring have melted,
Yet you linger in your sin.Refrain
Jesus for your choice is waiting;
Tarry not: at once decide!
While the Spirit now is striving,
Yield, and seek the Savior’s side.Refrain
Cease of fitness to be thinking;
Do not longer try to feel;
It is trusting, and not feeling,
That will give the Spirit’s seal.Refrain

Trust in Christ’s atoning blood;
Look to Jesus now in Heaven,
Rest on His unchanging Word.Refrain

[Heb 11:7] Faith Means We’re Sure
Faith means we’re sure of what we hope to get;
We’re certain of the things that we do not see.
By faith we know that God made the world;
What’s here now was not made from what was seen.
Abel by faith offered God a better sacrifice;
And Enoch, too, by faith died not, but from this life did rise.
Though they are gone, they speak this word:
That without faith, none can please the Lord.It was by faith that Noah built the ark,
When warned by God of things that were yet to pass.
Since he had faith, God did spare his life,
And made him an heir of His righteousness.
Abraham, too, when God said to leave his home behind,
Obeyed and went, though he knew not the land he was to find.
Though they are gone, they speak this word:
That without faith, none can please the Lord.It was by faith that Abr’ham had a son,
Then offered him to God as a sacrifice.
Faith upheld Moses in Egypt’s land,
And faith let a lamb pay the firstborn’s price.
By faith the people passed through the sea as on dry land,
And faith was why the walls of Jericho just could not stand.
Though they are gone, they speak this word:
That without faith, none can please the Lord.All these still lived by faith until they died,
Receiving not the things that had been made known.
They only saw them as from afar;
They knew that their country was not their own.
God therefore was not ashamed to be named as their Lord;
For they believed that He was real and would their faith reward.
Oh, give me faith to trust Your Word,
That by my life I may please You, Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Built by Jehovah’s hand,
The holy city see:
Its happy gates wide open stand:
To enter all are free.One bright, eternal day
Shall in the city reign,
Darkness and death are fled away,
Ne’er to return again.O blessèd, happy state!
Great God, we thankful come,
Low at Thy footstool humbly wait,
And make Thy church our home.Jerusalem shall be
Our peaceful, blest abode:
Here we will love and honor Thee,
Our Savior and our God!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:10] O Thou Not Made With Hands
O thou not made with hands,
Not throned above the skies,
Nor walled with shining walls,
Nor framed with stones of price,
More bright than gold or gem,
God’s own Jerusalem.Where’er the gentle heart
Finds courage from above;
Where’er the heart forsook
Warms with the breath of love;
Where faith bids fear depart,
City of God, thou art.Thou art where’er the proud
In humbleness melts down;
Where self itself yields up;
Where martyrs win their crown;
Where faithful souls possess
Themselves in perfect peace.Where in life’s common ways
With cheerful feet we go;
Where in His steps we tread,
Who trod the way of woe;
Where He is in the heart,
City of God, thou art.Not throned above the skies,
Nor golden-walled afar,
But where Christ’s two or three
In His Name gathered are,
Be in the midst of them,
God’s own Jerusalem.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:10] Pearly White City, The
There’s a holy and beautiful city
Whose Builder and Ruler is God;
John saw it descending from Heaven,
When Patmos, in exile, he trod;
Its high, massive wall is of jasper,
The city itself is pure gold;
And when my frail tent here is folded,
Mine eyes shall its glory behold.Refrain
In that bright city, pearly white city,
I have a mansion, a harp, and a crown;
Now I am watching, waiting, and longing,
For the white city that’s soon coming down.No sin is allowed in that city
And nothing defiling or mean;
No pain and no sickness can enter,
No crepe on the doorknob is seen;
Earth’s sorrows and cares are forgotten,
No tempter is there to annoy;
No parting words ever are spoken,
There’s nothing to hurt or destroy.Refrain
No heartaches are known in that city,
No tears ever moisten the eyes;
There’s no disappointment in Heaven,
No envy and strife in the sky;
The saints are all sanctified wholly,
They live in sweet harmony there;
My heart is now set on that city,
And some day its blessings I’ll share.Refrain
My loved ones are gathering yonder,
My friends too are passing away,
And soon I shall join their bright number,
And dwell in eternity’s day;
They’re safe now in glory with Jesus,
Their trials and battles are past.
They overcame sin and the tempter,
They’ve reached that fair city at last.Refrain

Along the path of life?
What’s the goal you have in view
Along the path of life?”

Is my journey’s blessèd end;
Heavenward my footsteps wend
Along the path of life.”“Pilgrim, why not halt and rest
Along the path of life?
Quickly on your way you’ve pressed
Along the path of life.”
“Nay, but through His precious grace
Soon I’ll end this earthly race;
I have no abiding place
Along the path of life.”“Pilgrim, why look you so glad
Along the path of life?”

Along the path of life?
Where yon crystal towers shine
I shall see my King divine,

Come, Heaven-bound pilgrims, and join in God’s praise,
Come seek now His blessing and learn of His ways,
In humble devotion bow low at His feet,
In true spirit worship, His favor entreat.Let each one consider the price we have cost,
Let each one be burdened with souls that are lost,
And seek that infilling of pow’r from above,
That fits us for service and fills us with love.Remember each other in true, fervent prayer,
Pray too for God’s servants that they may declare
The message of truth with an anxious desire,
That all be enkindled with heavenly fire.O gracious Redeemer, be with us we pray,
Breathe on us Thy Spirit to show us the way,
And fill us with goodness, with peace and delight,
That all to Thy glory may shine as a light.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:13] Far Off I See The Goal
Far off I see the goal—O Savior, guide me;
I feel my strength is small—be Thou beside me;
With vision ever clear, with love that conquers fear,
And grace to persevere, O Lord, provide me.Whene’er Thy way seems strange, go Thou before me;
And, lest my heart should change, O Lord, watch o’er me;
But, should my faith prove frail, and I through blindness fail,
O let Thy grace prevail, and still restore me.Should earthly pleasures wane, and joy forsake me;
And lonely hours of pain at length o’ertake me,
My hand in Thine hold fast till sorrow be o’erpast,
And gentle death at last for Heav’n awake me.There, with the ransomed throng who praise forever
The love that made them strong to serve forever,
I, too, would seek Thy face, Thy finished work retrace,
And magnify Thy grace, redeemed forever.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

[Heb 11:13] I’m A Pilgrim (maxwell)
I’m a pilgrim and a stranger,
Rough and thorny is the road,
Often in the midst of danger,
But it leads to God.
Clouds of darkness oft distress me;
Great and many are my foes;
Anxious cares and thoughts oppress me;
But my Father knows.Oh, how sweet is this assurance,
’Midst the conflict and the strife,
Although sorrows past endurance
Follow me through life.
Home in prospect can still cheer me:
Yes, and give me sweet repose,
While I feel His presence near me,
For my Father knows.Yes, He sees and knows me daily,
Watches over me in love;
Sends me help when foes assail me,
Bids me look above.
Soon my journey shall be ended,
Life is drawing to a close;
I shall then be well attended—
This my Father knows.I shall then with joy behold Him;
Face to face my Savior see;
Fall with rapture, and adore Him
For His love to me.
Nothing more shall then distress me—
In the land of sweet repose:
Jesus stands engaged to bless me—
This my Father knows.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

I’m a pilgrim, and I’m a stranger;
I can tarry, I can tarry but a night.There the glory is ever shining;
Oh, my longing heart, my longing heart is there;
Here in this country so dark and dreary,
I long have wandered forlorn and weary.Refrain
There’s the city to which I journey;
My Redeemer, my Redeemer is its Light;
There is no sorrow nor any sighing,
Nor any tears there, nor any dying.Refrain
Farewell, neighbors, with tears I’ve warned you,
I must leave you, I must leave you and be gone!
With this your portion, your heart’s desire,
Why will you perish in raging fire?Refrain
Father, mother, and sister, brother!
If you will not journey with me, I must go!
Now since your vain hopes you will thus cherish,
Should I, too, linger, and with you perish?Refrain
Farewell, drear earth, by sin so blighted,
In immortal beauty soon you’ll be arrayed;
He who has formed thee will soon restore thee,
And then the dread curse shall nevermore be.Refrain

[Heb 11:13] In Our Day Of Thanksgiving
In our day of thanksgiving one psalm let us offer
For the saints who before us have found their reward;
When the shadow of death fell upon them, we sorrowed,
But now we rejoice that they rest in the Lord.In the morning of life, and at noon, and at even,
He called them away from our worship below;
But not till His love, at the font and the altar,
Had girt them with grace for the way they should go.These stones that have echoed their praises are holy,
And dear is the ground where their feet have once trod;
Yet here they confessed they were strangers and pilgrims,
And still they were seeking the city of God.Sing praise, then, for all who here sought and here found Him,
Whose journey is ended, whose perils are past;
They believed in the Light; and its glory is round them,
Where the clouds of earth’s sorrows are lifted at last.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:13] Now Rest, Ye Pilgrim Host
Now rest, ye pilgrim host, look back upon your way,
The mountains climbed, the torrents crossed,
Through many a weary day.
From this victorious height, how fair the past appears,
God’s grace and glory shining bright
On all the bygone years.How many, at His call, have parted from our throng!
They watch us from the crystal wall,
And echo back our song.
They rest, beyond complaints,
Beyond all sighs and tears:
Praise be to God for all His saints
Who wrought in bygone years.The banners they upbore our hands still lift on high;
The Lord they followed evermore
To us is also nigh.
Arise, arise and tread the future without fears;
He leadeth still, whose hand hath led
Through all the bygone years.When we have reached the home we seek with weary feet,
Our children’s children still shall come
To keep those ranks complete;
And He, whose host is one throughout the countless spheres,
Will guide His marching servants on
Through everlasting years.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

And in example live;
Their faith, and hope, and mighty deeds
Still fresh instruction give.’Twas through the Lamb’s most precious blood
They conquered every foe;

O how blest to be a pilgrim,

Songs of vict’ry there shall greet us,
Like the thund’ring of a mighty flood,

Who redeemed us by his blood!On this side of Jordan’s river,
Sighs too deep for words are known,
But we look for bright tomorrows
In Jerusalem our home.Refrain
There no clouds of darkness gather,
Neither sorrow, tears, nor woe,
Nothing harmful e’er shall enter,
Sin and pain we will not know.Refrain
Here from loved ones we are parted,
Earthly sorrows never cease,
But within that glorious city
We shall meet again in peace.Refrain
O may none give up the journey,
Left in darkness on the shore,
May we all at last be gathered
When our pilgrimage is o’er.Refrain

We are pilgrims of a day,
Homeward bound, homeward bound;
Singing on our cheerful way,
We are homeward bound.Refrain
Onward, upward still, O ye hopeful pilgrims;
Forward, fear no ill, yonder is our home;
We journey, hand in hand,
To Canaan’s happy land;
O come, ye friends and neighbors,
And join the pilgrim band.We are happy in the Lord,
Trav’ling on, trav’ling on;
Trusting in His holy Word,
We are trav’ling on.Refrain
Sin and sorrow here below,
Soon will end, soon will end;
In the land to which we go,
Toil and care will end.Refrain

Blessèd rest will come.Refrain

[Heb 11:16] My Own Dear Land
My own dear land, where’er my footsteps wander,
Ever to thee my heart still turns again;
To thee my love grows ever fonder, fonder,
Till in its might it is akin to pain.
Ever to thee I’m bound in love and duty;
No dearer land to me in all the earth;
By all sweet ties of home and love and beauty,
To thee I cleave, dear land that gave me birth.Yet I look on, beyond earth’s habitation,
To where a home of rarer vision gleams,
Fairer than earth’s most wonderful creation
Bathed in the light of Heav’n’s own morning beams.
There we shall meet, from every clime and nation,
There we shall meet in answer to the call,
There we shall meet in joyous consecration,
Sons of one Father, brothers one and all.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:16] My Soul, There Is A Country
My soul, there is a country,
Afar beyond the stars,
Where stands a wingèd sentry,
All skillful in the wars.There, above noise and danger,
Sweet Peace sits crowned with smiles,
And One born in a manger
Commands the beauteous files.He is thy gracious Friend
And (O my soul, awake!)
Did in pure love descend,
To die here for thy sake.If thou canst get but thither,
There grows the flower of peace,
The rose that cannot wither,
Thy fortress, and thy ease.Leave, then, thy foolish ranges;
For none can thee secure
But One, who never changes,
Thy God, thy Life, thy Cure.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:27] Church Of God A Kingdom Is, The
The Church of God a kingdom is,
Where Christ in power doth reign;
Where spirits yearn till, seen in bliss,
Their Lord shall come again.Glad companies of saints possess
This Church below, above;
And God’s perpetual calm doth bless
Their paradise of love.An altar stands within the shrine
Whereon, once sacrificed,
Is set, immaculate, divine,
The Lamb of God, the Christ.There rich and poor, from countless lands,
Praise God on mystic rood;
There nations reach forth holy hands
To take God’s holy food.There pure life-giving streams o’erflow
The sower’s garden-ground:
And faith and love fair blossoms show,
And fruits of love abound.O King, O Christ, this endless grace
To us and all men bring,
To see the vision of Thy face
In joy, O Christ, our King.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 11:36] Faith Of Our Brothers
Faith of our brothers, suffering sore,
Enduring prison, famine, and sword,
O Holy Spirit, give comfort, we pray,
May they this day find strength in Thy Word.
Faith of our brothers, holy faith,
May they be true to thee till death!Tortured and killed for Thy dear Name,
Lord, give them grace to count all but loss,
May they hold steadfast to the end,
Sharing the sufferings of the cross.
Faith of our brothers, holy faith,
May they be true to thee till death!Our brothers, chained in prisons dark,
Are still in heart and conscience free,
O may they know thy deep, sweet peace,
Fill them with joy for all to see.
Faith of our brothers, holy faith,
May they be true to thee till death!Faith of our brothers! May they love
Both friend and foe in all their strife,
And preach Thee too, as love knows how,
By kindly words and virtuous life.
Faith of our brothers, holy faith,
May they be true to thee till death!And Lord, may we be ready too,
To give our lives, if needed, for Thee,
May we be strong in Thy great strength,
And live each day, committed to Thee.
Faith of all brothers, holy faith,
May we be true to thee till death!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:1] Looking This Way
Over the river, faces I see,
Fair as the morning, looking for me;
Free from their sorrow, grief and despair,
Waiting and watching patiently there.Refrain
Looking this way, yes, looking this way,
Loved ones are waiting, looking this way;
Fair as the morning, bright as the day,
Dear ones in glory, looking this way.Father and mother, safe in that vale,
Watch for the boatman, wait for the sail,
Bearing their loved ones over the tide,
Into the harbor, near to their side.Refrain
Brother and sister, gone to that clime,
Wait for the others, coming sometime,
Safe with the angels, whiter than snow,
Watching for dear ones, waiting below.Refrain
Sweet little darling, light of the home,
Looking for someone, beckoning, “Come”;
Bright as a sunbeam, pure as the dew,
Anxiously looking, mother, for you.Refrain

[Heb 12:1] O Father, By Whose Servants
Our Father, by Whose servants
Our house was built of old,
Whose hand hath crowned her children
With blessing manifold,
For Thine unfailing mercies
Far-strewn along our way,
With all who passed before us,
We praise Thy Name today.The changeful years unresting
Their silent course have sped,
New comrades ever bringing
In comrades’ steps to tread;
And some are long forgotten,
Long spent their hopes and fears;
Safe rest they in Thy keeping,
Who changest not with years.They reap not where they labored;
We reap what they have sown;
Our harvest may be garnered
By ages yet unknown.
The days of old have dowered us
With gifts beyond all praise;
Our Father, make us faithful
To serve the coming days.Before us and beside us,
Still holden in Thine hand
A cloud unseen of witness,
Our elder comrades stand:
One family unbroken,
We join, with one acclaim,
One heart, one voice uplifting
To glorify Thy Name.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Author Of Faith, Eternal Word
Author of faith, eternal Word,
Whose Spirit breathes the active flame;
Faith like its finisher and Lord,
Today as yesterday the same.To Thee our humble hearts aspire,
And ask the gift unspeakable;
Increase in us the kindled fire,
In us the work of faith fulfill.By faith we know Thee strong to save;
Save us, a present Savior Thou!
Whate’er we hope, by faith we have
Future and past subsisting now.To him that in Thy Name believes
Eternal life with Thee is given;
Into Himself He all receives,
Pardon and holiness, and Heaven.The things unknown to feeble sense,
Unseen by reason’s glimmering ray,
With strong commanding evidence
Their heavenly origin display.Faith lends its realizing light,
The clouds disperse, the shadows fly;
Th’invisible appears in sight,
And God is seen by mortal eye.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Christ, In Highest Heaven Enthronèd
Christ, in highest Heav’n enthronèd,
Equal of the Father’s might,
By pure spirits, trembling, ownèd,
God of God, and Light of Light,
Thee ’mid angel hosts we sing,
Thee their Maker and their King.All who circling round adore Thee,
All who bow before Thy throne,
Burn with flaming zeal before Thee,
Thy behests to carry down;
To and fro, ’twixt earth and Heav’n,
Speed they each on errands given.First of all those legions glorious,
Michael waves his sword of flame,
Who of old in war victorious
Did the Dragon’s fierceness tame;
Who with might invincible
Thrust the rebel down to hell.Strong to aid the sick and dying,
Called from Heav’n they swiftly fly,
Grace divine and strength supplying
In their mortal agony:
Souls released from bondage here
Safe to Paradise they bear.To the Father praise be given
By the unfallen angel host,
Who in His great war have striven
With the legions of the lost;
Equal praise in highest Heav’n
To the Son and Holy Ghost.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Far From My Thoughts
Far from my thoughts, vain world, begone,
Let my religious hours alone:
Fain would my eyes my Savior see;
I wait a visit, Lord, from Thee.My heart grows warm with holy fire,
And kindles with a pure desire:
Come, my dear Jesus, from above,
And feed my soul with heav’nly love.The trees of life immortal stand
In fragrant rows at Thy right hand;
And in sweet murmurs, by their side,
Rivers of bliss perpetual glide.Haste, then, but with a smiling face,
And spread the table of Thy grace;
Bring down a taste of fruit divine,
And cheer my heart with sacred wine.Bless’d Jesus, what delicious fare!
How sweet Thy entertainments are!
Never did angels taste above
Redeeming grace, and dying love.Hail, great Immanuel, all divine!
In Thee Thy Father’s glories shine;
Thou brightest, sweetest, fairest One,
That eyes have seen or angels known.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

With a triumphant noise;

Glory ascribe to glory’s King.God in the flesh below,
For us He reigns above:
Let all the nations know
Our Jesu’s conquering love!

By angel hosts adored,

Glory ascribe to glory’s King.High on His holy seat
He bears the righteous sway;
His foes beneath His feet
Shall sink and die away:
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.His foes and ours are one,
Satan, the world, and sin;
But He shall tread them down.
And bring His kingdom in:
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory’s King.Till all the earth, renewed
In righteousness divine,

[Heb 12:2] Lamb Of God, We Fall Before Thee
Lamb of God, we fall before Thee,
Humbly trusting in Thy cross.
That alone be all our glory;
All things else are only dross.Thee we own a perfect Savior,
Only source of all that’s good.
Every grace and every favor
Comes to us through Jesus’ blood.Jesus gives us true repentance
By His Spirit sent from Heav’n;
Whispers this transporting sentence,
“Son, thy sins are all forgiv’n.”Faith He grants us to believe it,
Grateful hearts His love to prize;
Want we wisdom? He must give it,
Hearing ears and seeing eyes.Jesus gives us pure affections,
Wills to do what He requires,
Makes us follow His directions,
And what He commands, inspires.All our prayers and all our praises,
Rightly offered in His Name—
He that dictates them is Jesus;
He that answers is the same.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] O Christ, The Lord Of Heaven, To Thee
O Christ, the Lord of Heaven, to Thee
Clothed with all majesty divine,
Eternal power and glory be:
Eternal praise and right is Thine.Reign, Prince of Life, who once Thy brow
Didst yield to wear the wounding thorn;
Reign throned beside the Father now,
Adored the Son of God firstborn.From angel hosts, that round Thee stand,
With forms more pure than spotless snow,
From the bright burning seraph band,
Let praise in loftiest numbers flow.To Thee, the Lamb, our mortal songs,
Born of deep fervent love, shall rise;
All honor to Thy Name belongs:
Our lips would sound it to the skies.Jesus! all earth shall speak the word;
Jesus! all Heaven resound it still:
Immanuel, Savior, Conqueror, Lord,
Thy praise the universe shall fill.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:2] Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!Refrain
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!Refrain
His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!Refrain

[Heb 12:5] Afflictions Do Not Come Alone
Afflictions do not come alone,
A voice attends the rod;
By both He to His saints is known,
A Father and a God!Let not My children slight the stroke
I for chastisement send;
Nor faint beneath My kind rebuke,
For still I am their Friend.The wicked I perhaps may leave
Awhile, and not reprove;
But all the children I receive
I scourge, because I love.If therefore you were left without
This needful discipline;
You might, with cause, admit a doubt,
If you, indeed, were Mine.Shall earthly parents then expect
Their children to submit?
And wilt not you, when I correct,
Be humbled at My feet?To please themselves they oft chastise,
And put their sons to pain;
But you are precious in My eyes,
And shall not smart in vain.I see your hearts, at present, filled
With grief, and deep distress;
But soon these bitter seeds shall yield
The fruits of righteousness.Break through the clouds, dear Lord, and shine!
Let us perceive Thee nigh!
And to each mourning child of Thine
These gracious words apply.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

More zeal for His glory, more hope in His Word.
More tears for His sorrows, more pain at His grief.
More meekness in trial, more praise for relief.More purity give me, more strength to o’ercome,
More freedom from earth-stains, more longings for home.
More fit for the kingdom, more useful I’d be,
More blessèd and holy, more, Savior, like Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Heb 12:24] Victim Divine, Thy Grace We Claim
Victim Divine, Thy grace we claim,
While thus Thy precious death we show:
Once offered up a spotless Lamb,
In Thy great temple here below,
Thou didst for all mankind atone,
And standest now before the throne.Thou standest in the holy place,
As now for guilty sinners slain;
The blood of sprinkling speaks, and prays,
All prevalent for helpless man;
Thy blood is still our ransom found,
And speaks salvation all around.The smoke of Thy atonement here
Darkened the sun, and rent the veil,
Made the new way to Heaven appear,
And showed the great Invisible;
Well pleased in Thee, our God looked down,
And calls His rebels to a crown.He still respects Thy sacrifice;
Its savor sweet doth always please:
The offering smokes through earth and skies,
Diffusing life, and joy, and peace;
To these, Thy lower courts, it comes,
And fills them with divine perfumes.We need not now go up to Heaven,
To bring the long sought Savior down;
Thou art to all already given,
Thou dost e’en now Thy banquet crown:
To every faithful soul appear,
And show Thy real presence here!Play source: Cyberhymnal
