Genesis 7:7

7:7 Noah entered the ark along with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives because 1  of the floodwaters.

Genesis 44:22

46:7 He brought with him to Egypt his sons and grandsons, 5  his daughters and granddaughters – all his descendants.

1 tn The preposition מִן (min) is causal here, explaining why Noah and his family entered the ark.

2 tn Heb “him”; the referent (Abram) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

3 tn Heb “he”; the referent (the boy’s father, i.e., Jacob) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

4 tn The last two verbs are perfect tenses with vav consecutive. The first is subordinated to the second as a conditional clause.

5 tn The Hebrew text adds “with him” here. This is omitted in the translation because it is redundant in English style (note the same phrase earlier in the verse).
