Genesis 31:37

Context
31:37 When you searched through all my goods, did you find anything that belonged to you? 1  Set it here before my relatives and yours, 2  and let them settle the dispute between the two of us! 3

Genesis 47:4

Context
47:4 Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live as temporary residents 4  in the land. There 5  is no pasture for your servants’ flocks because the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. So now, please let your servants live in the land of Goshen.”

1 tn Heb “what did you find from all the goods of your house?”

2 tn Heb “your relatives.” The word “relatives” has not been repeated in the translation here for stylistic reasons.

3 tn Heb “that they may decide between us two.”

4 tn Heb “to sojourn.”

5 tn Heb “for there.” The Hebrew uses a causal particle to connect what follows with what precedes. The translation divides the statement into two sentences for stylistic reasons.
