Genesis 30:30

Context
30:30 Indeed, 1  you had little before I arrived, 2  but now your possessions have increased many times over. 3  The Lord has blessed you wherever I worked. 4  But now, how long must it be before I do something for my own family too?” 5

Genesis 31:41

Context
31:41 This was my lot 6  for twenty years in your house: I worked like a slave 7  for you – fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks, but you changed my wages ten times!

Genesis 43:34

Context
43:34 He gave them portions of the food set before him, 8  but the portion for Benjamin was five times greater than the portions for any of the others. They drank with Joseph until they all became drunk. 9

1 tn Or “for.”

2 tn Heb “before me.”

3 tn Heb “and it has broken out with respect to abundance.”

4 tn Heb “at my foot.”

5 tn Heb “How long [until] I do, also I, for my house?”

6 tn Heb “this to me.”

7 tn Heb “served you,” but in this accusatory context the meaning is more “worked like a slave.”

8 tn Heb “and he lifted up portions from before his face to them.”

9 tn Heb “and they drank and were intoxicated with him” (cf. NIV “drank freely with him”; NEB “grew merry”; NRSV “were merry”). The brothers were apparently relaxed and set at ease, despite Joseph’s obvious favoritism toward Benjamin.
