Genesis 26:12

Context

26:12 When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, 1  because the Lord blessed him. 2 

Genesis 32:6

32:6 The messengers returned to Jacob and said, “We went to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you and has four hundred men with him.”

Genesis 33:1

Jacob Meets Esau

33:1 Jacob looked up 3  and saw that Esau was coming 4  along with four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two female servants.

Genesis 45:22

45:22 He gave sets of clothes to each one of them, 5  but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five sets of clothes. 6 

1 tn Heb “a hundredfold.”

2 tn This final clause explains why Isaac had such a bountiful harvest.

3 tn Heb “and Jacob lifted up his eyes.”

4 tn Or “and look, Esau was coming.” By the use of the particle הִנֵּה (hinneh, “look”), the narrator invites the reader to view the scene through Jacob’s eyes.

5 tn Heb “to all of them he gave, to each one, changes of outer garments.”

6 tn Heb “changes of outer garments.”
