Genesis 26:12

Context

26:12 When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, 1  because the Lord blessed him. 2 

Genesis 31:7

Context
31:7 but your father has humiliated 3  me and changed my wages ten times. But God has not permitted him to do me any harm.

Genesis 33:3

Context
33:3 But Jacob 4  himself went on ahead of them, and he bowed toward the ground seven times as he approached 5  his brother.

1 tn Heb “a hundredfold.”

2 tn This final clause explains why Isaac had such a bountiful harvest.

3 tn This rare verb means “to make a fool of” someone. It involves deceiving someone so that their public reputation suffers (see Exod 8:25).

4 tn Heb “and he”; the referent (Jacob) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

5 tn Heb “until his drawing near unto his brother.” The construction uses the preposition with the infinitive construct to express a temporal clause.
