1 tn In the Hebrew text the sentence begins with הִנֵּה (hinneh, “look”) which draws attention to the statement.

2 tn Heb “guard yourself.”

3 tn The introductory clause “And Abraham said to him” has been moved to the end of the opening sentence of direct discourse in the translation for stylistic reasons.

4 tn Heb “according to.”

5 tn Heb “to you, saying.”

6 tn The cohortative after the imperative indicates purpose here.

7 tn Heb “that I may set my eyes upon him.”
