Genesis 21:23

21:23 Now swear to me right here in God’s name 1  that you will not deceive me, my children, or my descendants. 2  Show me, and the land 3  where you are staying, 4  the same loyalty 5  that I have shown you.” 6 

Genesis 24:27

Context
24:27 saying “Praised be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his faithful love 7  for my master! The Lord has led me 8  to the house 9  of my master’s relatives!” 10 

Genesis 26:24

26:24 The Lord appeared to him that night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

Genesis 40:8

Context
40:8 They told him, “We both had dreams, 11  but there is no one to interpret them.” Joseph responded, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Tell them 12  to me.”

1 tn Heb “And now swear to me by God here.”

2 tn Heb “my offspring and my descendants.”

3 tn The word “land” refers by metonymy to the people in the land.

4 tn The Hebrew verb means “to stay, to live, to sojourn” as a temporary resident without ownership rights.

5 tn Or “kindness.”

6 tn Heb “According to the loyalty which I have done with you, do with me and with the land in which you are staying.”

7 tn Heb “his faithfulness and his commitment.”

8 tn Heb “As for me – in the way the Lord led me.”

9 tn Here “house” is an adverbial accusative of termination.

10 tn Heb “brothers.”

11 tn Heb “a dream we dreamed.”

12 tn The word “them” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.
