Genesis 16:4

Context
16:4 He had sexual relations with¹ Hagar, and she became pregnant.² Once Hagar realized she was pregnant, she despised Sarai.³

Genesis 38:5

Context
38:5 Then she had⁴ yet another son, whom she named Shelah. She gave birth to him in Kezib.⁵

¹tn Heb “entered to.” See the note on the same expression in v. 2.

²tn Or “she conceived” (also in v. 5)

³tn Heb “and she saw that she was pregnant and her mistress was despised in her eyes.” The Hebrew verb קָלַל (qalal) means “to despise, to treat lightly, to treat with contempt.” In Hagar’s opinion Sarai had been demoted.

⁴tn Heb “and she added again and she gave birth.” The first verb and the adverb emphasize that she gave birth once more.

⁵tn Or “and he [i.e., Judah] was in Kezib when she gave birth to him.”

displaying	set the max displaying in one page.	"20" will set displaying max to 20 per page
range	set searching range	"All Bible", "Old Testament", "New Testament"
