2 tn This parenthetical clause, introduced by the vav (ו) disjunctive (translated “now”), provides information necessary to the point of the story.

3 tn Heb “the son of ninety-nine years.”

4 tn Heb “circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin” (also in v. 25).

5 tn Heb “listen to my voice.” The Hebrew idiom means “to comply; to obey.”

6 tn Heb “to that which I am commanding you.”

7 tn The disjunctive clause gives supplemental information that is important to the storyline.
