Galatians 2:8

Context
2:8 (for he who empowered 1  Peter for his apostleship 2  to the circumcised 3  also empowered me for my apostleship to the Gentiles) 4

Galatians 4:20

Context
4:20 I wish I could be with you now and change my tone of voice, 5  because I am perplexed about you.

Galatians 6:17

Context

6:17 From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body. 6

1 tn Or “worked through”; the same word is also used in relation to Paul later in this verse.

2 tn Or “his ministry as an apostle.”

3 tn Grk “to the circumcision,” i.e., the Jewish people.

4 tn Grk “also empowered me to the Gentiles.”

5 tn Grk “voice” or “tone.” The contemporary English expression “tone of voice” is a good approximation to the meaning here.

6 tn Paul is probably referring to scars from wounds received in the service of Jesus, although the term στίγμα (stigma) may imply ownership and suggest these scars served as brands (L&N 8.55; 33.481; 90.84).
