8:5 He said to me, “Son of man, look up toward 1  the north.” So I looked up toward the north, and I noticed to the north of the altar gate was this statue of jealousy at the entrance.

Ezekiel 27:3

27:3 Say to Tyre, who sits at the entrance 2  of the sea, 3  merchant to the peoples on many coasts, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says:

“‘O Tyre, you have said, “I am perfectly beautiful.”

Ezekiel 40:40

40:40 On the outside of the porch as one goes up at the entrance of the north gate were two tables, and on the other side of the porch of the gate were two tables.

46:19 Then he brought me through the entrance, which was at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers for the priests which faced north. There I saw 4  a place at the extreme western end.

1 tn Heb “lift your eyes (to) the way of.”

2 tn Heb “entrances.” The plural noun may reflect the fact that Tyre had two main harbors.

3 sn Rome, another economic power, is described in a similar way in Rev 17:1.

4 tn The word הִנֵּה (hinneh, traditionally “behold”) indicates becoming aware of something and has been translated here as a verb.
