tn Verses 17-19 are repeated in Ezek 33:7-9.

 tn Heb “the righteous man.”

tn Heb “be put to death.” The translation follows an alternative reading that appears in several ancient textual witnesses.

tn Heb “his blood will be upon him.”

tn Heb “caused to be remembered.”

tn Heb “Because you have brought to remembrance your guilt when your transgressions are uncovered so that your sins are revealed in all your deeds – because you are remembered, by the hand you will be seized.”

tn Heb “his blood will be on his own head.”

tn Heb “from his way to turn from it.”

tn Heb “and he does not turn from his way.”

tn Heb “as people come.” Apparently this is an idiom indicating that they come in crowds. See D. I. Block, Ezekiel (NICOT), 2:264.

tn The word “as” is supplied in the translation.

 tn Heb “do.”

tn Heb “They do lust with their mouths.”

 tn Heb “goes after.”

tn The present translation understands the term often used for “unjust gain” in a wider sense, following M. Greenberg, who also notes that the LXX uses a term which can describe either sexual or ritual pollution. See M. Greenberg, Ezekiel (AB), 2:687.

 tn Heb “way.”

tn Or “spirit.” This is likely an allusion to Gen 2 and God’s breath which creates life.

tn Heb “there,” referring to the foreign nations to which they were exiled. The translation makes the referent clear.
