Ezekiel 19:4

Context

19:4 The nations heard about him; he was trapped in their pit.

They brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt. 1 

Ezekiel 23:3

Context
23:3 They engaged in prostitution in Egypt; in their youth they engaged in prostitution. Their breasts were squeezed there; lovers 2  fondled their virgin nipples there.

Ezekiel 23:8

Context
23:8 She did not abandon the prostitution she had practiced in Egypt; for in her youth men had sex with her, fondled her virgin breasts, and ravished her. 3 

Ezekiel 23:19

Context
23:19 Yet she increased her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth when she engaged in prostitution in the land of Egypt.

Ezekiel 29:6

29:6 Then all those living in Egypt will know that I am the Lord

because they were a reed staff 4  for the house of Israel;

Syene 9  will writhe in agony,

Thebes will be broken down,

and Memphis will face enemies every day.

1 sn The description applies to king Jehoahaz (2 Kgs 23:31-34; Jer 22:10-12).

5 sn In Ezek 4:4-8 it was said that the house of Judah would suffer forty years.

9 tc The LXX reads “Syene,” which is Aswan in the south. The MT reads Sin, which has already been mentioned in v. 15.
