Ezekiel 18:19
Context18:19 “Yet you say, ‘Why should the son not suffer 1 for his father’s iniquity?’ When the son does what is just and right, and observes all my statutes and carries them out, he will surely live.
Ezekiel 22:11
Context22:11 One 2 commits an abominable act with his neighbor’s wife; another obscenely defiles his daughter-in-law; another violates 3 his sister – his father’s daughter 4 – within you.
Ezekiel 23:40
Context23:40 “They even sent for men from far away; when the messenger arrived, those men set out. 5 For them you bathed, 6 painted your eyes, and decorated yourself with jewelry.
1 tn Heb “lift up, bear.”
2 tn Heb “a man.”
3 tn The verb is the same one used in verse 10b and suggests forcible sexual violation of the woman.
4 sn Sexual relations with one’s half-sister may be primarily in view here. See Lev 18:9; 20:17.
5 tn Heb “to whom a messenger was sent, and look, they came.” Foreign alliances are in view here.
6 tn The Hebrew verb form is feminine singular, indicating that Oholibah (Judah) is specifically addressed here. This address continues through verse 42a (note “her”), but then both sisters are described in verse 42b, where the feminine pronouns are again plural.
