16:15 “‘But you trusted in your beauty and capitalized on your fame by becoming a prostitute. You offered your sexual favors to every man who passed by so that your beauty 1  became his.

Ezekiel 16:33

16:33 All prostitutes receive payment, 2  but instead you give gifts to every one of your lovers. You bribe them to come to you from all around for your sexual favors!

Ezekiel 18:6

18:6 does not eat pagan sacrifices on the mountains 3  or pray to the idols 4  of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbor’s wife, does not have sexual relations with a 5  woman during her period,

Ezekiel 23:7

Context
23:7 She bestowed her sexual favors on them; all of them were the choicest young men of Assyria. She defiled herself with all whom she desired 6  – with all their idols.

1 tn Heb “it” (so KJV, ASV); the referent (the beauty in which the prostitute trusted, see the beginning of the verse) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

2 tn The Hebrew word occurs only here in the OT.

3 tn Heb, “on the mountains he does not eat.” The mountains are often mentioned as the place where idolatrous sacrifices were eaten (Ezek 20:28; 22:9; 34:6).

4 tn Heb, “does not lift up his eyes.” This refers to looking to idols for help.

5 tn Heb, “does not draw near to.” “Draw near” is a euphemism for sexual intercourse (Lev 18:14; Deut 22:14; Isa 8:3).

6 tn Heb “lusted after.”
