Ezekiel 10:19

Context
10:19 The cherubim spread 1  their wings, and they rose up from the earth 2  while I watched (when they went the wheels went alongside them). They stopped at the entrance to the east gate of the Lord’s temple as the glory of the God of Israel hovered above them.

Ezekiel 16:8

Context

16:8 “‘Then I passed by you and watched you, noticing 3  that you had reached the age for love. 4  I spread my cloak 5  over you and covered your nakedness. I swore a solemn oath to you and entered into a marriage covenant with you, declares the sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

Ezekiel 32:24-25

Context

32:24 “Elam is there with all her hordes around her grave; all of them struck down by the sword. They went down uncircumcised to the lower parts of the earth, those who spread terror in the land of the living. Now they will bear their shame with those who descend to the pit. 32:25 Among the dead they have made a bed for her, along with all her hordes around her grave. 6  All of them are uncircumcised, killed by the sword, for their terror had spread in the land of the living. They bear their shame along with those who descend to the pit; they are placed among the dead.

1 tn Heb “lifted.”

2 tn Or “the ground” (NIV, NCV).

3 tn The word הִנֵּה (hinneh, traditionally “behold”) indicates becoming aware of something and has been translated here as a participle.

4 tn See similar use of this term in Ezek 23:17; Prov 7:16; Song of Songs 4:10; 7:13.

5 tn Heb “wing” or “skirt.” The gesture symbolized acquiring a woman in early Arabia (similarly, see Deut 22:30; Ruth 3:9).

6 tn Heb “around him her graves,” but the expression is best emended to read “around her grave” (see vv. 23-24).
