Ezekiel 1:28
Context1:28 like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds after the rain. 1 This was the appearance of the surrounding brilliant light; it looked like the glory of the Lord. When I saw 2 it, I threw myself face down, and I heard a voice speaking.
Ezekiel 5:12
Context5:12 A third of your people will die of plague or be overcome by the famine within you. 3 A third of your people will fall by the sword surrounding you, 4 and a third I will scatter to the winds. I will unleash a sword behind them.
1 sn Reference to the glowing substance and the brilliant light and storm phenomena in vv. 27-28a echoes in reverse order the occurrence of these phenomena in v. 4.
2 tn The vision closes with the repetition of the verb “I saw” from the beginning of the vision in 1:4.
3 sn The judgment of plague and famine comes from the covenant curse (Lev 26:25-26). As in v. 10, the city of Jerusalem is figuratively addressed here.
4 sn Judgment by plague, famine, and sword occurs in Jer 21:9; 27:13; Ezek 6:11, 12; 7:15.
