18:26 They judged the people under normal circumstances; the difficult cases they would bring 1  to Moses, but every small case they would judge themselves.

Exodus 33:9

Context
33:9 And 2  whenever Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord 3  would speak with Moses. 4 

1 tn This verb and the verb in the next clause are imperfect tenses. In the past tense narrative of the verse they must be customary, describing continuous action in past time.

2 tn Heb “and it was when.”

3 tn Heb “and he”; the referent (the Lord) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

4 tn Both verbs, “stand” and “speak,” are perfect tenses with vav (ו) consecutive.
