• [Exo 2:22] I Am A Poor Wayfaring Stranger

  I am a poor wayfaring stranger, While traveling through this world of woe. Yet there’s no sickness, toil nor danger In that bright world to which I go. I’m going there to see my Father; I’m going there no more to roam. Refrain I’m only going over Jordan, I’m only going over home. I know dark clouds will gather round me; I know my way is rough and steep. But golden fields lie out before me Where God’s redeemed shall ever sleep. I’m going there to see my mother, She said she’d meet me when I come. Refrain I’ll soon be free from every trial, My body sleep in the churchyard; I’ll drop the cross of self denial And enter on my great reward.   A pilgrim through this lonely world The blessèd Savior passed; A mourner all His life was He, A dying Lamb at last, A dying Lamb at last. That tender heart that felt for all, For all its life blood gave; It found on earth no resting place Save only in the grave, Save only in the grave. Such was our Lord; and shall we fear The cross with all its scorn? Or love a faithless, evil world, That wreathed His brow with thorn, That wreathed His brow with thorn? No! facing all its frowns or smiles, Like Him, obedient, still, We homeward press through storm or calm To Zion’s blessèd hill, To Zion’s blessèd hill. By faith His boundless glories there Our wondering eyes behold; Those glories which eternal years Shall never all unfold; Shall never all unfold.

• [Exo 15:13] O God, Beneath Thy Guiding Hand

  O God, beneath Thy guiding hand Our exiled fathers crossed the sea; And when they trod the wintry strand, With prayer and psalm they worshipped Thee. Thou heardest, well pleased, the song, the prayer: Thy blessing came; and still its power Shall onward, through all ages, bear The memory of that holy hour. Laws, freedom, truth and faith in God Came with those exiles o’er the waves; And, where their pilgrim feet have trod, The God they trusted guards their graves. And here Thy Name, O God of love, Their children’s children still adore, Till these eternal hills remove, And spring adorns the earth no more.

• [Exo 15:13] To Thee, O God, Whose Guiding Hand

  To Thee, O God, whose guiding hand Our fathers led across the sea, And brought them to this barren shore, Where they might freely worship Thee— To Thee, O God, whose arm sustained Their footsteps in this desert land, Where sickness lurked, and death assailed And foes beset on every hand— To Thee, O God, we lift our eyes, To Thee our grateful voices raise, And, kneeling at Thy gracious throne, Devoutly join in hymns of praise. Our fathers’ God, incline Thine ear, And listen to our heartfelt prayer; Surround us with Thy heavenly grace, And guard us with Thy constant care. Our fathers’ God, in Thee we’ll trust, Sheltered by Thee from every harm; We’ll follow where Thy hand shall guide, And lean on Thy sustaining arm.

Exodus 31:11

• [Exo 31:11] In Thy Holy Place

  In Thy holy place we bow, Perfumes sweet to heaven rise, While our golden censers glow With the fire of sacrifice. Saints low bending, prayers ascending, Holy lips and hands implore; Faith believing and receiving Grace from Him Whom we adore. Holy light doth fill this place, Spirit light our way to guide; In the presence of Thy face Sin and darkness ne’er can hide. Heaven’s gleaming, fullness streaming, Life and truth for man is found; Light pervading, never fading, Lighting all the world around. On Thy holy bread we feed, Hunger nevermore to know; Thou suppliest all our need; Father, whither shall we go? Ne’er forsaking, here partaking Bread our souls to satisfy; Here abiding and confiding, We shall never want nor die.
