Deuteronomy 8:2

8:2 Remember the whole way by which he 1  has brought you these forty years through the desert 2  so that he might, by humbling you, test you to see if you have it within you to keep his commandments or not.

Deuteronomy 16:4

16:4 There must not be a scrap of yeast within your land 3  for seven days, nor can any of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain until the next morning. 4 

1 tn Heb “the Lord your God.” The pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons.

2 tn Or “wilderness” (so KJV, NRSV, NLT); likewise in v. 15.

3 tn Heb “leaven must not be seen among you in all your border.”

4 tn Heb “remain all night until the morning” (so KJV, ASV). This has been simplified in the translation for stylistic reasons.
