4:7 In fact, what other great nation has a god so near to them like the Lord our God whenever we call on him?

Deuteronomy 16:10

Deuteronomy 20:18

20:18 so that they cannot teach you all the abhorrent ways they worship 4  their gods, causing you to sin against the Lord your God.

1 tn The Hebrew phrase חַג שָׁבֻעוֹת (khag shavuot) is otherwise known in the OT (Exod 23:16) as קָצִיר (qatsir, “harvest”) and in the NT as πεντηχοστή (penthcosth, “Pentecost”).

2 tn Heb “the sufficiency of the offering of your hand.”

3 tn Heb “the Lord your God.” See note on “he” in 16:1.

4 tn Heb “to do according to all their abominations which they do for their gods.”
