1 tn Heb “from the gods.” The demonstrative pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons to avoid redundancy.

2 tn Heb “Watch yourselves lest your heart turns and you turn aside and serve other gods and bow down to them.”

3 tc Heb “with strange (things).” The Vulgate actually supplies diis (“gods”).

4 tn Heb “abhorrent (things)” (cf. NRSV). A number of English versions understand this as referring to “idols” (NAB, NIV, NCV, CEV), while NLT supplies “acts.”
