Deuteronomy 18:16

Context
18:16 This accords with what happened at Horeb in the day of the assembly. You asked the Lord your God: “Please do not make us hear the voice of the Lord our¹ God any more or see this great fire any more lest we die.”

Deuteronomy 24:4

Context
24:4 her first husband who divorced her is not permitted to remarry² her after she has become ritually impure, for that is offensive to the Lord.³ You must not bring guilt on the land⁴ which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

¹tn The Hebrew text uses the collective singular in this verse: “my God…lest I die.”

²tn Heb “to return to take her to be his wife.”

³sn The issue here is not divorce and its grounds per se but prohibition of remarriage to a mate whom one has previously divorced.

⁴tn Heb “cause the land to sin” (so KJV, ASV).

range	set searching range	"All Bible", "Old Testament", "New Testament"
