Deuteronomy 33:19

Context

33:19 They will summon peoples to the mountain,

there they will sacrifice proper 6  sacrifices;

for they will enjoy 7  the abundance of the seas,

and the hidden treasures of the shores. 8

1 tn Heb “leaven must not be seen among you in all your border.”

2 tn Heb “remain all night until the morning” (so KJV, ASV). This has been simplified in the translation for stylistic reasons.

3 tn Heb “the Passover.” The translation uses a pronoun to avoid redundancy in English.

4 tc The MT reading אֶל (’el, “unto”) before “the place” should, following Smr, Syriac, Targums, and Vulgate, be omitted in favor of ב (bet; בַּמָּקוֹם, bammaqom), “in the place.”

5 tn Heb “the Lord your God.” See note on “he” in 16:1.

6 tn Or “acceptable”; Heb “righteous” (so NASB).

7 tn Heb “suck.”

8 tn Heb “of the sand” (so NRSV, NLT); CEV “the sandy beach.”
