Daniel 5:20

5:20 And when his mind 1  became arrogant 2  and his spirit filled with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and his honor was removed from him.

Daniel 7:12

7:12 As for the rest of the beasts, their ruling authority had already been removed, though they were permitted to go on living 3  for a time and a season.

Daniel 8:11

8:11 It also acted arrogantly against the Prince of the army, 4  from whom 5  the daily sacrifice was removed and whose sanctuary 6  was thrown down.

12:11 From the time that the daily sacrifice is removed and the abomination that causes desolation is set in place, 7  there are 1,290 days.

2 sn The point of describing Nebuchadnezzar as arrogant is that he had usurped divine prerogatives, and because of his immense arrogance God had dealt decisively with him.

3 tn Aram “a prolonging of life was granted to them.”

4 sn The prince of the army may refer to God (cf. “whose sanctuary” later in the verse) or to the angel Michael (cf. 12:1).

5 tn Or perhaps “and by him,” referring to Antiochus rather than to God.

6 sn Here the sanctuary is a reference to the temple of God in Jerusalem.

7 tn Heb “to give.”
