Daniel 6:24
Context6:24 The king gave another order, 6 and those men who had maliciously accused 7 Daniel were brought and thrown 8 into the lions’ den – they, their children, and their wives. 9 They did not even reach the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.
Daniel 11:17
Context11:17 His intention 10 will be to come with the strength of his entire kingdom, and he will form alliances. 11 He will give the king of the south 12 a daughter 13 in marriage in order to destroy the kingdom, but it will not turn out to his advantage.
1 tn Or perhaps, “when he had tasted” (cf. NASB) in the sense of officially initiating the commencement of the banquet. The translation above seems preferable, however, given the clear evidence of inebriation in the context (cf. also CEV “he got drunk and ordered”).
2 tn Or “ancestor”; or “predecessor” (also in vv. 11, 13, 18). The Aramaic word translated “father” can on occasion denote these other relationships.
