4:6 So I issued an order 1  for all the wise men of Babylon to be brought 2  before me so that they could make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

7:16 I approached one of those standing nearby and asked him about the meaning 5  of all this. So he spoke with me and revealed 6  to me the interpretation of the vision: 7

9:6 We have not paid attention to your servants the prophets, who spoke by your authority 8  to our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors, 9  and to all the inhabitants 10  of the land as well.

1 tn Aram “from me there was placed a decree.”

2 tn The Aramaic infinitive here is active.

3 tn Or “descendant”; or “successor.”

4 tn Aram “your heart.”

5 tn Aram “what is certain.”

6 tn Aram “and made known.”

7 tn Aram “matter,” but the matter at hand is of course the vision.

8 tn Heb “in your name.” Another option is to translate, “as your representatives.”

9 tn Heb “our fathers” (also in vv. 8, 16). The Hebrew term translated “father” can refer to more distant relationships such as grandfathers or ancestors.

10 tn Heb “people.”
