1 tn Aram “in that hour.”
2 sn There is a great deal of uncertainty with regard to the specific nature of these items of clothing.
3 tn Aram “into the midst of the furnace.” For stylistic reasons the words “the midst of” have been left untranslated.
4 sn The prince of the army may refer to God (cf. “whose sanctuary” later in the verse) or to the angel Michael (cf. 12:1).
5 tn Or perhaps “and by him,” referring to Antiochus rather than to God.
6 sn Here the sanctuary is a reference to the temple of God in Jerusalem.
