Daniel 3:19

Context

3:19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with rage, and his disposition changed 1  toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He gave orders 2  to heat the furnace seven times hotter than it was normally heated.

Daniel 6:16

Context
6:16 So the king gave the order, 3  and Daniel was brought and thrown into a den 4  of lions. The king consoled 5  Daniel by saying, “Your God whom you continually serve will rescue you!”

Daniel 6:23

Context

6:23 Then the king was delighted and gave an order to haul Daniel up from the den. So Daniel was hauled up out of the den. He had no injury of any kind, because he had trusted in his God.

1 tn Aram “the appearance of his face was altered”; cf. NLT “his face became distorted with rage”; NAB “[his] face became livid with utter rage.”

2 tn Aram “he answered and said.”

3 tn Aram “said.” So also in vv. 24, 25.

4 sn The den was perhaps a pit below ground level which could be safely observed from above.

5 tn Aram “answered and said [to Daniel].”
