Daniel 2:38

2:38 Wherever human beings, 1  wild animals, 2  and birds of the sky live – he has given them into your power. 3  He has given you authority over them all. You are the head of gold.

Daniel 2:49

2:49 And at Daniel’s request, the king 4  appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the administration of the province of Babylon. Daniel himself served in the king’s court. 5

6:3 Now this Daniel was distinguishing himself above the other supervisors and the satraps, for he had an extraordinary spirit. In fact, the king intended to appoint him over the entire kingdom.

9:12 He has carried out his threats 13  against us and our rulers 14  who were over 15  us by bringing great calamity on us – what has happened to Jerusalem has never been equaled under all heaven!

Daniel 11:39

11:39 He will attack 16  mighty fortresses, aided by 17  a foreign deity. To those who recognize him he will grant considerable honor. He will place them in authority over many people, and he will parcel out land for a price. 18

7 sn The purpose of the den being sealed was to prevent unauthorized tampering with the opening of the den. Any disturbance of the seal would immediately alert the officials to improper activity of this sort.

9 tn The words “all this” are added in the translation for stylistic reasons and for clarification.

10 tn Heb “and behold, a he-goat of the goats.”

11 tn Or “of the whole earth” (NAB, ASV, NASB, NRSV).

12 tn Heb “a horn of vision” [or “conspicuousness”], i.e., “a conspicuous horn,” one easily seen.

13 tn Heb “he has fulfilled his word(s) which he spoke.”

15 tn Heb “who judged.”

18 tn Or perhaps “for a reward.”
