2:31 “You, O king, were watching as a great statue – one 1  of impressive size and extraordinary brightness – was standing before you. Its appearance caused alarm.

1 tn Aram “an image.”

2 tn Aram “those men”; the referent (the administrative officials who had earlier approached the king about the edict) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

3 tn Heb “paid attention to the voice of,” which is an idiomatic expression for obedience (cf. NASB “nor have we obeyed the voice of”).

4 tn Heb “to walk in.”

5 tc The LXX and Vulgate have the singular.
