Daniel 2:30

Context
2:30 As for me, this mystery was revealed to me not because I possess more wisdom 1  than any other living person, but so that the king may understand 2  the interpretation and comprehend the thoughts of your mind. 3

Daniel 8:17

Context
8:17 So he approached the place where I was standing. As he came, I felt terrified and fell flat on the ground. 4  Then he said to me, “Understand, son of man, 5  that the vision pertains to the time of the end.”

Daniel 9:23

Context
9:23 At the beginning of your requests a message went out, and I have come to convey it to you, for you are of great value in God’s sight. 6  Therefore consider the message and understand the vision: 7

1 tn Aram “not for any wisdom which is in me more than [in] any living man.”

2 tn Aram “they might cause the king to know.” The impersonal plural is used here to refer to the role of God’s spirit in revealing the dream and its interpretation to the king. As J. A. Montgomery says, “it appropriately here veils the mysterious agency” (Daniel [ICC], 164-65).

3 tn Aram “heart.”

4 tn Heb “on my face.”

5 tn Or “human one.”

6 tn Or “a precious treasure”; KJV “greatly beloved”; NASB, NIV “highly esteemed.”

7 tn This sentence is perhaps a compound hendiadys (“give serious consideration to the revelatory vision”).
