Daniel 1:19

1:19 When the king spoke with them, he did not find among the entire group 1  anyone like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, or Azariah. So they entered the king’s service. 2 

Daniel 2:14

Context

2:14 Then Daniel spoke with prudent counsel 3  to Arioch, who was in charge of the king’s executioners and who had gone out to execute the wise men of Babylon.

Daniel 7:16

7:16 I approached one of those standing nearby and asked him about the meaning 4  of all this. So he spoke with me and revealed 5  to me the interpretation of the vision: 6 

Daniel 9:6

9:6 We have not paid attention to your servants the prophets, who spoke by your authority 7  to our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors, 8  and to all the inhabitants 9  of the land as well.

1 tn Heb “from all of them.”

2 tn Heb “stood before the king.”

3 tn Aram “returned prudence and counsel.” The expression is a hendiadys.

4 tn Aram “what is certain.”

5 tn Aram “and made known.”

6 tn Aram “matter,” but the matter at hand is of course the vision.

7 tn Heb “in your name.” Another option is to translate, “as your representatives.”

8 tn Heb “our fathers” (also in vv. 8, 16). The Hebrew term translated “father” can refer to more distant relationships such as grandfathers or ancestors.

9 tn Heb “people.”
