Acts 11:14

Context
11:14 who will speak a message 6  to you by which you and your entire household will be saved.’

Acts 24:18

Context
24:18 which I was doing when they found me in the temple, ritually purified, 7  without a crowd or a disturbance. 8

1 tn Grk “And praying, they said.” Because of the difference between Greek style, which often begins sentences or clauses with “and,” and English style, which generally does not, καί (kai) has not been translated here.

2 tn Grk “to take the place.”

3 tn Or “of this ministry.”

4 tn Or “the task of this service and apostleship which Judas ceased to perform.”

5 sn To go to his own place. This may well be a euphemism for Judas’ judged fate. He separated himself from them, and thus separated he would remain.

6 tn Grk “words” (ῥήματα, rJhmata), but in this context the overall message is meant rather than the individual words.

7 sn Ritually purified. Paul’s claim here is that he was honoring the holiness of God by being sensitive to issues of ritual purity. Not only was he not guilty of the charges against him, but he was thoroughly devout.

8 tn BDAG 458 s.v. θόρυβος 3.b has “μετὰ θορύβουwith a disturbance Ac 24:18.”
