  When the weary, seeking rest, To Thy goodness flee; When the heavy laden cast All their load on Thee; When the troubled, seeking peace, On Thy Name shall call; When the sinner, seeking life, At Thy feet shall fall: Refrain Hear then in love, O Lord, the cry In Heav’n, Thy dwelling place on high. When the child, with grave fresh lip, Youth, or maiden fair, When the agèd, weak and grey, Seek Thy face in prayer; When the widow weeps to Thee, Sad and lone and low; When the orphan brings to Thee All his orphan woe: Refrain When the stranger asks a home, All his toils to end; When the hungry craveth food, And the poor a friend; When the sailor on the wave Bows the fervent knee; When the soldier on the field Lifts his heart to Thee: Refrain When the man of toil and care, In the city crowd, When the shepherd on the moor, Names the Name of God; When the learnèd and the high Tired of earthly fame, Upon higher joys intent, Name the blessèd Name: Refrain When the worldling, sick at heart, Lifts his soul above; When the prodigal looks back To his Father’s love; When the proud man, in his pride, Stoops to seek Thy face; When the burdened brings his guilt To Thy throne of grace: Refrain

• [2Ch 6:27] God Of Pity, God Of Grace

  God of pity, God of grace, When we humbly seek Thy face, Bend from Heav’n, Thy dwelling place; Hear, forgive, and save. When we in Thy temple meet, Spread our wants before Thy feet, Pleading at Thy mercy seat, Look from Heav’n and save. When Thy love our hearts shall fill, And we long to do Thy will, Turning to Thy holy hill, Lord, accept and save. Should we wander from Thy fold, And our love to Thee grow cold, With a pitying eye behold; Lord, forgive and save. Should the hand of sorrow press, Earthly care and want distress, May our souls Thy peace possess; Jesus, hear and save. And, whate’er our cry may be, When we lift our hearts to Thee, From our burden set us free; Hear, forgive, and save.

  Now to Heaven our prayer ascending, God speed the right! In a noble cause contending, God speed the right! May we live our lives before Thee, Like the good and great in story, If we fail, we fail in glory: God speed the right! Patient, firm, and persevering, God speed the right! No event or danger fearing, God speed the right! Pains, nor toils, nor trials heeding, Never from the truth receding, And in Heaven’s own time succeeding, God speed the right! Still our onward course pursuing, God speed the right! Every foe at length subduing, God speed the right! Truth! thy cause, whate’er delay it, There’s no power on earth can stay it, Proudly let us then obey it, God speed the right!

  Heavenly Father, we beseech Thee, Grant Thy blessing ere we part; Take us in Thy care and keeping, Guard from evil every heart.   O Lord, our God, almighty King, We fain would make this temple ring With our adoring praise; And joining with the ransomed host, To Father, Son and Holy Ghost, Our grateful songs we raise, Our grateful songs we raise. The heav’n of heav’ns cannot contain Thy majesty, and in Thy train Thy archangel veils his face; Yet curtained tent or temple fair, If humble contrite hearts be there, May be Thy resting place, May be Thy resting place. We sing Thy wondrous works and ways; We sing the glorious displays Of love and power divine; In all our past, Thy matchless grace, Hath been vouchsafed within this place The glory e’er be Thine, The glory e’er be Thine.   Be with us, gracious Lord, today; This house we dedicate to Thee; O hear Thy servants as they pray, And let Thine ear attentive be! Within these walls let holy peace, Let love and truth be always found; May burdened hearts and sweet release, And souls with richest grace be crowned. May here be heard the suppliant’s sigh, The weary enter into rest; Here may the contrite to Thee cry, And waiting souls be richly blessed. Here when the Gospel sound is heard, And here proclaimed the saving Name, May hearts be quickened, moved and stirred, And souls be kindled into flame. Here may the dead be made to live, The dumb to sing, the deaf to hear; And do Thou to the humble give Pardon and peace instead of fear. Make this, O Lord, Thine own abode; Thy presence in these courts be giv’n; Be this, indeed, the house of God, And this in truth the gate of Heav’n.
