• [2Ti 2:19] King Of Saints, To Whom The Number

  King of saints, to Whom the number Of Thy starry host is known, Many a name, by man forgotten, Lives forever round Thy throne; Lights, which earth-born mists have darkened, There are shining full and clear, Princes in the court of Heaven, Nameless, unremembered here. In the roll of Thine apostles One there stands, Bartholomew, He for whom today we offer, Year by year, our praises due; How he toiled for Thee and suffered None on earth can now record; All his saintly life is hidden In the knowledge of his Lord. Was it he, beneath the fig tree Seen of Thee, and guileless found; He who saw the good he longed for Rise from Nazareth’s barren ground; He who met his risen Master On the shore of Galilee; He to whom the word was spoken, “Greater things thou yet shall see”? None can tell us; all is written In the Lamb’s great book of life, All the faith, and prayer, and patience, All the toiling, and the strife; There are told Thy hidden treasures; Number us, O Lord, with them, When Thou makest up the jewels Of Thy living diadem.

  There was One came to die in the sinner’s stead, Who the fullness of grace brought to view; He is coming again, Judge of quick and dead, And I love His appearing, don’t you? Refrain I love His appearing, I do, (don’t you?) The glad day is nearing, ’tis true; He will take us on high Where the saints cannot die; I love His appearing, don’t you? • [2Ti 4:8] When Thou, My Righteous Judge, Shall Come

  When Thou, my righteous Judge shall come To take Thy ransomed people home, Shall I among them stand? Shall such a worthless worm as I, Who sometimes am afraid to die, Be found at Thy right hand? I love to meet Thy people now, Before Thy gracious feet to bow, Though vilest of them all: But can I bear the piercing thought? What if my name should be left out, When Thou for them shalt call? O Lord, prevent it by Thy grace; Be Thou my only hiding place, In this, th’accepted day; Thy pardoning voice oh let me hear, To still my unbelieving fear, Nor let me fall, I pray. Among Thy saints let me be found Whene’er th’archangel’s trump shall sound, To see Thy smiling face; Then loudest of the crowd I’ll sing, While heaven’s resounding mansions ring, With shouts of sovereign grace.
