1:1 From Paul, 1  an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promise 2  of life in Christ Jesus,

2 Timothy 1:6

1:6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possess 3  through the laying on of my hands.

2 Timothy 2:9-10

2:9 for which I suffer hardship to the point of imprisonment 4  as a criminal, but God’s message 5  is not imprisoned! 6  2:10 So I endure all things for the sake of those chosen by God, 7  that they too may obtain salvation in Christ Jesus and its eternal glory. 8

2:15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed, teaching the message of truth accurately. 9

4:1 I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

2 tn Grk “for the promise…” or possibly “in accordance with the promise…”

4 tn Or “chains,” “bonds.”

6 tn Or “chained,” “bound.”

7 tn Grk “the elect.”

8 tn Grk “with eternal glory.”

9 sn Accurately is a figure of speech that literally means something like “cutting a straight road.” In regard to the message of truth, it means “correctly handling” or “imparting it without deviation.”
